Editor's Letter: February 2021

It's snowing quite heavily in Manhattan. Although I'm worried about slushy sidewalks on my way to Starbucks tomorrow, if that's all that I have to complain about, life is all good. To be honest, January went so fast in part because my final semester at Fordham School of Law started. While taking seminar classes, I had to get myself ready for job interviews. On top of that, I was involved in a couple of "side gig" projects. I sleep less, but that doesn't tire me at all. In fact, I'm very excited to share the fruits of my labor once they are officially out. A year after another, I find new areas in law or fashion that I wasn't deeply familiar with, and that sense of incompleteness has been the impetus for not limiting myself to my comfort zone. Without sounding too pretentious, life is about continuous improvement. Last week, I served as a "judge" for a mock trial in a class taught by my undergraduate philosophy professor. He commented afterwards that I have made much progress since he last saw me in person, both on personal and professional levels. Those words really meant a lot to me since he was my law school recommender. Likewise, I'm so fortunate to have those who continue to believe in me and go the extra mile to help me out. Knowing someone cares about you is indeed comforting.

As I alluded a little bit, I have a lot of exciting projects underway. I started working as a legal intern for AB World as part of Fashion Law Practicum. The selection process for Practicum involved a rigorous selection process by attorney-instructors from LVMH, so I am certainly proud of and much grateful for what I have been able to accomplish over the last few months. Although I cannot tell you what my projects are by the very nature of the profession, one thing is clear: this will provide me with the firm foundation. Even at this stage of my life (I'm 30!), I really haven't had "real" work experiences, so this internship will be an amazing opportunity to receive constructive feedbacks on my work product. You never learn without making mistakes. What's important is not repeating them. I hope February will bring some good news to me in terms of job search, and I remain resilient and hopeful despite the superficiality of "at-home" life. As usual, I will share my personal interviews with industry professionals this month. I'm slowing down things a little bit because, at this juncture, I really want to keep the high quality that I set for myself and my interviewees. I wish everyone nothing but happiness!
