Editor's Letter: May 2021
I am so happy to share the news that I have just received my Juris Doctor degree from Fordham School of Law. It is a milestone achievement for me. The studies have not been without challenges, to say the least. However, I could make it this far because of the support system for which I am immensely grateful. At the same time, there is just one more hurdle to clear: the bar exam. The bar exam demands my undivided attention at the moment. I need to pass the New York bar so that I can be in service of others in need of legal help. That means, I won't be able to post articles for the foreseeable future. I will, however, try my best to share some interesting developments in intellectual property law every now and then.
For one, a class action was recently filed with the Northern District of California regarding Instagram's alleged copyright infringement. The class action centers around the platform's "embedding" function. Surprisingly, I wrote my final paper on this exact topic for my Advanced Copyright class. When I have the time, I will try to share the general outline of my paper and summarize the complaint of the class action. Again, I thank you for being with me throughout the journey and I will say hi from time to time!
